| Pigeon Guillemot - Cepphus columba | Rachel Hudson | 2023-07-19 | Budd Inlet, Thurston County, Washington, Thurston (United States) (-30 m) | alarm call, call - Long recording at an active breeding colony while a small flock of crows was present directly below the colony's burrows. Many call types represented. Intermittent levels of high pass filter used to reduce distant traffic noise, and light noise reduction also used. No shortening between intervals. Habitat: rocky tidal shoreline, sheer bluff with mixed forest above. All PIGUs recorded were in the water nearshore. Behavior: mostly resting in a loose flock, occasionally flying or chasing each other. Weather: sunny, calm, relatively warm. Other species: Mostly American Crows, as I wanted to record the PIGU's vocal interactions when the crows were present. A few distant species also observed, including the ones listed as well as gull sp.'s.

| Pigeon Guillemot - Cepphus columba | Thomas G. Graves | 2021-07-15 | Baywood-Los Osos, San Luis Obispo County, California, San Luis Obispo (United States) (10 m) | adult, call, female, male, song - Rocky coast, small cove. 57 degrees F, high cloud cover. Approximately 30 birds around this cove (not many along adjacent areas north or south). Birds calling in flight, on rocks, and on bluff face. Birds flying back and forth, and some out to sea. A few days before this recording, I attempted to locate these birds in the late afternoon in this location without success. Complex song (seet series): 0:01.7 . Songs with similar pattern: 3:41.6 , 3:48.1 , 4:26.8 , 6:50.1 , 9:31.3 . Song with series of pseeps, and a whistle: 1:49.4 . Call 1— Pseep: 5:12.2 , 6:07.2 , 10:03.6 , series of sweeps 6:37.5 . Recording was 34 minutes long: I edited out the long quiet portions to shorten it, used high pas filter and noise reduction. (Sennheiser ME62 omni mic, 24 inch Roché parabola, Marantz PMD 661). bird-seen:yes playback-used:no
