Although these birds were bred in captivity, I provide this recording for reference considering the special circumstances in Japan. This species has not yet been released to the wild in the mainland Japan and the re-introduced population can be only seen in Sado Island. These five birds (two adults and three juveniles) have been open to the public since this November 19. The birds were mostly silent. This was recorded when the birds became active and called each other.

In Yangxian, under the guidance of the local guide, I waited in the forest where the crested ibis roosted every day until a dozen crested ibis returned from afar and fell on the high branches, and several egrets also roosted on the branches. The crested ibis felt uneasy, some come back stay about 5 or 10 mins and flew away, calling while flying, and the voice echoed in the valley and the river. Local people said that there were more in the past, but now it is winter. They must be eager to return to their habitat to nest, so they left here in a hurry.

Crested Ibis called before 6.3 sec, and Intermediate Egret called after that. 6.3秒之前是朱鹮，之后是白鹭。 地点在汉江河滩上。白鹭在石头堆中往返觅食，朱鹮相比白鹭稍显胆小，跟随其后。早十点至中午，不断觅食。中午散去飞远。

Calls of adults at a communal roost north of the nesting site of XC113346-47. The first call seems to be two adults calling almost simultaneously, perhap a pair. On the second set of calls at least two and perhaps more birds join in.
