African Thrush

Turdus pelios Bonaparte, CLJL 1850

The African thrush or West African thrush is a passerine bird in the thrush family Turdidae. It is common in well-wooded areas over much of the western part of sub-Saharan Africa, it was once considered to be conspecific with the olive thrush but that species has now been split further.   • Turdus pelios pelios: eastern Cameroon to southern Chad, southern Sudan, South Sudan (except far south), Eritrea, and northern and central Ethiopia
  • Turdus pelios adamauae: northern Cameroon (Adamawa Plateau)
  • Turdus pelios chiguancoides: Senegal to Gambia, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia, and northern Ghana
