Flying in after dark, on a windy day

This was a flock of over a thousand birds, within a few hundred meters of the shore, initially seen from my house. The exact location is not disclosed to preserve my own privacy. They were present for many hours on two consecutive days. We haven't seen this species in the months prior or hence that I have lived here. We decided to paddle up to them in a kayak, and obtained this footage from close up. The individuals were quite active, but no feeding was observed. Circling above the bush at night

Sounds from a massive feeding frenzy of perhaps about ten thousand birds as the boat passed right through them. Unfortunately, the engine is loud, but one can hear the honking of the Puffinus. The giggling Pachyptila are not so audible in this cut.
