According to the bulletin board of the Park, this species was introduced to Japan in 1955 and was reported to breed in the wild in Ibaraki Prefecture etc. The species was very rarely recorded in Kansai area, and there were past records in Osaka and Kyoto. The bird was not a captive bird. The bird (together with other ducks) was fed by local people, and this voice was recorded when the bird requested food. It stretched the neck horizontally and issued this voice (simultaneously recorded by video).

Highpass filter 400 hz to 12db. Recording shortened but time intervals between each call note was not shortened. An adult pair swimming on a large pond . One bird (male?)raises head skywards to sound a single call several times with lengthy intervals between each sound.
