This is the same location in which Dickcissels recorded on 6/13/26 (XC1145287). Photographs of singing bird, with head thrust way back, chest out, and russet shoulder patch obvious, as it perched on telephone wire. Domestic fowl can be heard in background. Sunny day.

Unmodified recording except for generating one second silence in place of 28 seconds noise. Recording made from car with engine shut off. About six male Dickcissels in this area singing loudly in open field of native grasses and wildflowers about an hour after rain; now the sun was shining and temperature was in the 60s. Multiple visits to this and other areas in the county had been made in the last several years, but no Dickcissels had been found to record since 2022. Photograph of bird perched on telephone wire revealed wide rufous shoulders, long yellow supercilium, white partial (lower) eyering, white throat bordered by wide black V, gray nape, olive to yellow breast, long toes/toenails.

Individual #4 recorded today. Singing from a perch about 10m up in a small tree at the edge of a small patch of restored tallgrass prairie. The territory of this bird was very near to the bird in XC142655.
