African Cuckoo - Cuculus gularis David Moyer 2014-10-26 Likuyu Sekamaganga, Ruvuma (Tanzania) (830 m) song, territorial call -

Selected portion of a longer cut demonstrating the territorial/confrontational call of this species. There were a total of four birds in the canopy on the Likuyu Sekamaganga Institute campus. They were calling normally, but when one approached the position of another, it would call loudly with this excited and strident call that I am assuming to be some sort of territorial or confrontational call to warn off approaching birds. This was sometimes given in flight by one or the other bird as well.
