Adult Burchell's Coucal seen and heard making this clicking sound in a tree in a suburban garden while looking for nests and eggs. The young chick was in a near by tree and the adult seemed to be communicating with it this way.

Young Burchell's Coucal chick seen and heard calling from a Coral Tree near to the tree where the adult bird was looking for nests to raid. The adult bird was making loud clicking sounds as a way to communicate with the young chick. I uploaded that soundclip on Xeno Canto too.

An adult bird seen actively hunting for nests in thick bushes in a suburban garden and making this strange call. A chick was nearby waiting for food. The other garden birds were protesting at its presence. Probably it was raiding their nests.
