  • Polioptila bilineata: semi-humid to dry forest, woodland, and scrub from the Gulf of Mexico slope in southeastern Mexico (including Yucatan Peninsula), and the Pacific lowlands of southeastern Nicaragua southwards to Panama (including Coiba), and in the lowlands of northern Colombia southwards to west-central Peru (La Libertad)
  • Polioptila bilineata bilineata: northern Colombia to western Peru (northern La Libertad)
  • Polioptila bilineata superciliaris: Pacific and Atlantic lowlands of Costa Rica and Panama, probably also adjacent northwestern Colombia
  • Polioptila bilineata brodkorbi: Atlantic lowlands of southeastern Mexico (northward to southern Veracruz and northeastern Oaxaca) southward to eastern Nicaragua, intergrading with superciliaris in northern Costa Rica
