Often meet Tiger Shrikes at the fringe of the forest or in open sections of the jungle. This first winter was very vocal and had loud territorial advertising calls. A call recording is located here. In the waveform you can appreciate the undulating nature of the calls; what you hear in the field is the rising and falling volume of the harsh screeching calls. The sonogram shows that the frequency remain the same, although intensity (loudness) varies. There are 49 to 51 notes in a 6 second burst of continual territorial calls.
