Within a minute afterwards, at least six Sharp-tailed Grouse flushed and flew to tall trees (XC1048219). When I looked back at the Northern Shrike, it had flown away, so I don't know if the calls were made while it was still perched. The first Northern Shrike call is soft, the second much louder. They both sound like a child's or umpire's whistle.
