Most of the flock of 50 birds calling on and off, at rest and in flight, many refusing to fly into roost area ( a field pond). Now, almost indiscernible in remaining daylight. It is getting pretty cold too ...

These are two mature birds and one immature bird, standing in a field towards but not at the roost. Separated from the main flock. Presumably, one hears the male call first with a deeper sound, and often the female responds with a similar call at a higher pitch. I do not think the immature bird is heard in this recording. By now it is already rather dark, and very few other birds still vocalize. Perhaps a far away away oriental turtle dove ...
