  • Alaudala rufescens [minor or nicolli]: northern Africa (from Morocco eastward to Egypt) and from southern Türkiye southward to the Sinai Peninsula and eastward to Iraq
  • Alaudala rufescens apetzii: southern Iberian Peninsula
  • Alaudala heinei [heinei or pseudobaetica]: breeds from Ukraine and eastern Türkiye eastward to eastern Kazakhstan and (disjunctly?) to southern Mongolia; wintering in the Middle East and southwestern Asia
  • Alaudala heinei persica: southern Iraq and Iran to southeastern Afghanistan
  • Alaudala heinei [aharonii or niethammeri]: breeds central Türkiye (Anatolian high plateau); partially migratory, wintering to central Syria
  • Alaudala cheleensis [cheleensis, kukunoorensis, beicki, stegmanni or tangutica]: northern Qinghai and northern Gansu through northern Mongolia, and northeastern China (central and eastern Inner Mongolia, Shanxi, Hebei, Beijing, Liaoning, Jilin, and Heilongjiang) and adjacent parts of southern Siberia; the Mongolian populations are largely migratory, although they probably winter within the range of the subspecies
  • Alaudala cheleensis leucophaea: apparently mainly resident in Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan (south of the Kyzylkum Desert), and western and southern Kazakhstan, eastward to Lake Balkhash and the Fergana Basin
  • Alaudala cheleensis seebohmi: northwestern China (Xinjiang) and adjacent Mongolia
  • Alaudala cheleensis tuvinica: southern Siberia (Tuva Republic) and northwestern Mongolia
  • Alaudala somalica somalica: eastern Ethiopia to northern Somalia
  • Alaudala somalica megaensis: southern Ethiopia
  • Alaudala somalica perconfusa: central and western plateau of northern Somalia
