One of the males and the female seemed to be a pair, and the second male would encroach on to their part of the pothole, inducing long bouts of vigorous calling. The males are giving the high-pitched, weezy calls, and the female the lower-pitched, more quack-like ones.

Flat agricultural fields in Mississippi alluvial plain. Most fields wet with standing water and some flooded with a few inches of water.
