Bass roll off below 1000 Hz (-3 db @ 500 Hz) to suppress traffic noise. The bird was on the top of a 3-m snag surrounded by dense brushy vegetation. The beginning of this recording captures the actual beginning of the bird's singing bout; however, the ending is rather arbitrary, at the point where a nearby Song Sparrow also began singing. The Catbird continued singing for another 2 minutes 30 seconds before taking a break.
