One male heard inside rain forest close to a small forest gap not too far from a big swamp with plenty of palm stands. As far as we know, this is the first documented occurrence record with tangible evidence of the species in Cameroon. There is an occurrence record from the southwest of Cameroon listed by Borrow west African bird book. Nonetheless, we have some doubts of the validity of this record because one of us (Francis Njie Motombi) lives in the area and never has registered the species in the southwest and he is a premier expert on Cameronian birds. The species was discovered previous day by my friend and main collaborator for the DFG project in Cameroon (Francis Njie Motombi) in the bai of petite savanna. He observed very well an adult male foraging on palm swamps, which was confirmed by me and another experienced colleague (Francis Luma). Next day I recorded this individual not too far from the bai. There were two Bleda notatus close, but we are totally sure that they cannot deliver this song. We also excluded Cossypha cyanocampter, which has a very different song (faster with more repetitive motifs). Based on this occurrence records, we consider that that species is present in this part of Cameroon at least as a sink population? We will prepare a corresponding note documenting the record.
