Macropygia [amboinensis, doreya or phasianella] (= Macropygia amboinensis) (Linnaeus, C 1766)

The Amboyna cuckoo-dove is a dove in the genus Macropygia found in the Moluccas and New Guinea. It was one of three new species defined when the slender-billed cuckoo-dove was split up in 2016 and retains the Latin binomial of the former species.[1] Source: Wikipedia

  • Macropygia amboinensis maforensis: Numfor (Cenderawasih Bay, off northwestern New Guinea); population on Biak not identified to subspecies, but vocally is similar to maforensis, and birds on Yapen Island presumably are the same subspecies as birds on Biak
  • Macropygia amboinensis griseinucha: Mios Num (Cenderawasih Bay, off northwestern New Guinea)
  • Macropygia amboinensis meeki: Manam Island (off northeastern New Guinea)
