response to playback. A long series of calls given from the same bird as in XC176990, mostly while it was perched hidden on the ground at the base of some sandsage. A few of the calls were also given in flight.

about half of the songs are flight song, the other half perched; it frequently ended flight songs on the ground, launching again from the ground; also singing from perches on short shrubs and bushes in short, open grass and creosote bush; others in the background, fairly dense here;

every song is a flight song in an inverted 'V' to a different perch, eventually repeating some of its perches;

A single adult-plumaged bird, with observed fledgling in the area, singing from a powerline. A constant buzz can be heard in the background which results from the powerline. The bird was singing from the powerline throughout the recording. The habitat was dominated by yucca and sand-sage with a grassy base layer. Not a flat location but fingers of gullies characterized this spot, creating many high and low spots. Bison grunts can also be heard in the latter half of the recording.
