I uploaded three recordings of the same Plain Wren. In the first (XC409731), the wren sang a simple, 3-element song. After making that recording, I walked away. However, I was drawn back because he started singing a slightly more-complex song, so I recorded that (XC409732). I again walked away, but the wren stepped-up his singing even more, to a 5- or 6-element song, so I recorded that as well (XC409733).

This was cut from 40 minutes of recording one Plain Wren as he foraged and puttered around his territory, and includes all of the 'pretty' songs (0:29, 1:01, 1:16, 1:24, 1:35, 2:01, 2:49, 2:58, 3:17, 3:26, 3:43, 3:55), examples of the monotypic shrill songs (e.g., 0:38, 0:49, 0:53, 0:58), and examples of the monotypic churring calls (e.g., 0:00, 0:05, 0:08, 0:09) sung during that time. All of the songs and calls are in the order sung, but I deleted many minutes of non-singing and singing of shrill songs and churring calls.
