  • Porphyrio pulverulentus: Karekelong Island (Talaud Islands) and Philippines
  • Porphyrio melanotus melanotus: Australia, New Zealand, and Kermadec and Chatham islands
  • Porphyrio melanotus bellus: far southwestern Australia
