Nicaraguan Grackle - Quiscalus nicaraguensis Andrew Spencer 2014-02-25 Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge, Alajuela, Alajuela (Costa Rica) (40 m) song -

natural vocalization; songs from a male bird perched near the top of a 2m high tree along the edge of a medium-sized slow river. The area was surrounded by extensive wetlands, and the banks of the river were mostly wooded. The grackle, however, preferred areas with fewer trees and more open wetlands.

Nicaraguan Grackle - Quiscalus nicaraguensis Andrew Spencer 2014-02-25 Refugio mixto Caño Negro, Alajuela, Costa Rica, Alajuela (Costa Rica)   - various songs and a few calls, all apparently from a female-plumaged bird (the bird was seen vocalizing in the first cut). While not seen in the second two cuts, it appeared to be on-focus for where the bird hopped into a dense bush. There was a male individual nearby, though, so I can't say without absolute certainty that it wasn't the bird giving some of these sounds. Habitat was the edge of a pasture along the edge of the river, with scattered short but dense bushes and trees. 31908251
