Two adult Grey Honeyeater perched in Mulga trees c.10m apart apparently triggered to start calling by Splendid Fairywren trill. Birds do several exchanges of call and reply to each other. Both birds settled down to feed after calling.

Single bird feeding on lerp and calling in a small stand of mature Mulga (Acacia aneura). Call is a non-standard variation which I've heard other birds perform occasionally before but this is the only time I've been able to record it. Rains the night before triggered calling in Grey Honeyeaters at several sites on that day. Bird repeated the same phrase over a dozen times (this was the only clip recorded without camera shutter sounds) Recording were made on iPhone 6 places at the base of the tree the bird was in using the native 'voice memo' app.

A slightly longer, more informative recording than XC165129 (!). Recording from an iPhone 5. Slight noise reduction in Audacity, otherwise as recorded. Vegetation: typical for species, tall Acacia aneura woodland with scrappy, open understorey or bare ground. Significant cattle and camel damage to vegetation evident. Bird was calling from upper section of a tall A. aneura tree between 3 and 4 meters above ground level. No interactions. Time of call: early for species (typically calls 10-12 am with a peak around 11am, after most other bird activity has ceased) but it was a particularly hot day with typical calling conditions for Grey Honeyeater, i.e. other bird species generally quiet, hot conditions, relatively still. Variegated Fairy-wrens giving alarm calls in response to my presence; Western Gerygone also calling during these conditions independently.

Single individual calling, giving predominantly two-note call, with an example of a single-note call at 0:37 and a three-note call at 1:09.

Single bird calling in mulga woodland. Basic noise removal and some amplification conducted in Audacity. Originally recorded on iPhone in .m4a, converted to .mp3. Long periods of noise between calls have been cut (i.e. shortened interval between some vocalisations)

iPhone recording. Single note call used at nest location. Tall, sparsely-leaved Acacia aneura surrounding an overflowing bore. No other vegetation. Nest was at the top of one of the trees, c. 3.5 m above ground. Bird was at this level but in adjacent canopy.

Recording from Ipod. Bird calling strongly from approximately 2 m away, perched mid canopy of an Acacia aneura (Mulga) tree. Habitat of high quality Acacia aneura (Mulga) woodland. Bird very active foraging, constantly on the move from one tree to another, similar to thornbill behaviour. Lifer for me coupled with crippling views. Knew the call instantly after hours of memorizing and dreaming of hearing the call.

Called spontaneously five times, then responded five minutes later after I used playback briefly. Responding calls were similar (identical?) to the initial spontaneous calls. Sparse Acacia spp. (aneura complex and pruinocarpa), Corymbia hamersleyana and flowering Eremophila fraseri.
