Asian Emerald Cuckoo - Chrysococcyx maculatus James Kennerley 2019-05-22 Kuankuoshui Nature Reserve (????????), Guizhou, China, null   - Singing just outside hotel in Kuankuoshui. Bird perched in some sort of conifer, maybe a spruce. Was two birds in the tree initially but the other bird flew off when the second bird flew in. Perhaps a male chasing a female. Male stayed in the tree and continued singing. Behaviour was reminiscent of Horsfield's Bronze or Black-eared Cuckoo. Perched 12m up tree at the end of one of the highest branches in the tree. Recording made at 07:20. 165376411

Song from a small tree. The bird was also photographed. It had a rufous head like the field guide female, but this vocalisation should be the song.
