| Barking Owl - Ninox connivens connivens | Hank Bower | 2025-10-24 | Tullymorgan, Clarence Valley Council, New South Wales, Clarence Valley- Coast (Australia) (30 m) | begging call, duet, nocturnal flight call, growling - Recording edited using Audacity to remove background noise and periods where there was no calling. The calls are of a pair of nesting Barking Owls duetting their typical woof woof call upon waking followed by some interesting growling type calls of adults and then trilling calls of recently fledged owlets. The adults would sometimes give their growl type call when we would get close to their roost but in this instance I believe it was directed at the chicks. All birds were roosting in vicinity of nest tree in large Grey Gum Eucalyptus propinqua in remnant dry sclerophyll forest. Recorded as part of the New South Wales Nature Conservation Council Large Forest Owls program
