People can contribute bird photos and sound recordings to Avibase by joining the Avibase Flickr group or submitting sound recordings to Xeno-Canto.
The numbers in the table below refers to the number of photos (on the Flickr group) or recordings (on Xeno-Canto, Macaulay Library and AVoCet) successfully indexed within Avibase. The number of taxa is the number of species or subspecies that those photos or recordings represent.

People who join the Avibase Flickr Group can have photos from their Flickr photostream displayed as thumbnails in Avibase, for instance in the illustrated versions of the bird checklists for any region. All you need to do is join the group and start tagging your photos. For more detailed instructions or to join the group, follow this link.
Recordists are also encouraged to contribute to Xeno-Canto, a community web site dedicated to bird sounds from the whole world. In addition to recordings from Xeno-Canto, recordings are also indexed from the Macaulay Library and AVoCet.
